In our work with furniture buyers and retailers, we have found that many after-sales questions are not caused by mechanical problems. They are simply related to cleaning, daily use and basic maintenance.
So we put together some practical points that can also be shared with end customers.
Fabric Recliners
For fabric upholstery, the first step is regular dust removal. A soft vacuum attachment can be used around:

- ✓ Gaps between cushions
For small stains, always follow the fabric supplier’s care instructions. We do not recommend using a strong cleaning chemical simply because it removes a stain quickly. Some chemicals can affect the color, surface finish or feel of upholstery.
Leather and Leather-Look Upholstery
Leather and synthetic upholstery require a slightly different approach. Dust can normally be removed with a soft, dry cloth. For deeper cleaning, use a product suitable for the specific upholstery material.
Do not assume that every “leather” surface should be cleaned in exactly the same way. Natural leather, PU and other synthetic materials can have different maintenance requirements.
Keep Liquids Away From Electrical Components
Power recliners contain electrical components, controls and wiring. When cleaning a power recliner, avoid allowing excessive liquid to enter:
- Control switches
- USB charging ports
- Electrical connections
- Motor areas
The chair should also be disconnected from the power supply when appropriate for cleaning or maintenance work.
Check the Moving Parts
A power recliner contains moving components that operate repeatedly. Users should pay attention to unusual:
- Noise
- Vibration
- Movement
- Delayed response
A change in operating behavior does not always mean a major failure, but it should not be ignored. Early inspection is usually easier than waiting until a component stops working completely.
Keep the Reclining Area Clear
One of the simplest maintenance points is also one of the easiest to forget. Before operating a recliner, check the area around the footrest and underneath the chair. Objects such as toys, cables, blankets, bags, and small furniture can interfere with movement. This is particularly important in homes with children or pets.
Avoid Sitting on the Footrest
A recliner footrest is designed to support the lower legs when the chair is used in the intended position. It is not designed to function as a separate seat. Avoid standing or sitting directly on the extended footrest. This simple habit can help reduce unnecessary stress on the mechanism.
